EASY PAPER BAG/TREAT BAG TUTORIAL

Hi all,
its me kavitha here.Today i am sharing a easy tutorial to make your own paper bag/treat bag. After i posted my first treat bag set,i got lot of request for the tutorials,so finally i am able to post it today:)))This is my own version of bag making,i don't know whether it is a proper method but i am happy with the result, hence sharing it with you all:).You can see my treat bag set HERE.This is a mini version of the same bag, actually you can make any size you want with this tutorials.

1.My bag size is 5 by 7 inches. So this is how i calculate the total measurement on all all side:

Width of the bag=Width of the bag+width of the side wall+1"for flap
Here my measurement is 5"+3"for the side wall+1" for the flap=9"

Length of the bag=Length+breadth of the bottom part
Here my measurement is 7"+21/2" for the bottom breadth=91/2"

Hop you understood, its a very easy one,i gave it in this way as you can make any size bag as you wish.So i took a card stock measuring 9" by 91/2|"

2.On the 9 inches side of the card stock, score at 3" and 8"

3.On the 91/2 inches side of the card stock score at 7"

4.Make a slit in the 3 inches side and cut the bottom part on the 1 inch flap.
This is how it looks:

5.You have to make 2 similar pieces likes this. Then stick the one inch flap of a card stock to the 3 inches side of the other card stock.

6.Then stick the pattern papers on all sides(finish all the sticking part) and add a handle to both the sides. After finishing this stage you can stick the other one inch flap to the other 3inch wall side,so you will get the bag shape.Once its dreid you can add the embellishments n finish it off.

Want to see the finished bag?you have to wait till evening.I will be posting it here n my BLOG as well.so keep watching:)
Hope you like the tutorial,if you have any doubt please feel free to leave a comment.

GETTING CREATIVE WITH SPELLBINDER DIES-PART 1

Dies are the most versatile tool for card making. It gives more professional look to your cards. There are lots n lots of designs are available in market,so you may get confused what to buy and what not to.If you are in your beginning stage of collecting dies, anything is fine.Once you got handful, you must be careful in selecting your dies, because lots of designs are repeated with slight difference,so that you don't waste your money on similar designs. And other thing you can do is,have a second look at your dies.Other than just cutting n using as it is,if you give a second thought n think for a while you can achieve different results with your dies, interestingly they will look like the other dies available in market:).In this case you will give 100% of your money you paid, satisfaction n most importantly you don't have to waste the money in same type of dies and can buy different ones:).So in this series of tutorial i am going to show how you can use your dies in different ways,so keep watching.

First is using your spellbinders dies(even other dies)for making borders.Have you ever wondered what to do with the first two(smallest)dies you get in the nestabilities?we mostly use the last two biggest size dies and other remains unused. Here is the solution, use the 1st or 2nd size dies for making borders, just cut the dies as it is,and then cut them in to two equal half, apply glue for half of the part and stick it to the panel.

Next is,using your spellbinder die to cut only one end.Doesn't this looks like PTI'S half n half dies?,i actually wanted to buy those, since they where quite expensive i was thinking whether to buy or not. Then blinked a bulb in my mind,n i have tried it with spellbinder dies, since its hallow in the center it so easy to do this.
This is how you should place your card stock in the die, your paper should be at least 3/4" less than the die size,so that the sides don't get cut.

Here is the end result,i have tried with different dies.Isn't it fabulous,i love spellbinder dies, they were so versatile.Lots more idea will be posted in future with these amazing size, keep watching n do leave your feed backs:).

MAKE YOUR OWN EPOXY CLIPS

Have you ever wondered what to do with the tiny stamps in the set expect the backgrounds? In most of the stamp set only 3 to 4 main images are there and others are like fillers n really small:)Here is a simple tutorial to use them n make your own epoxy pins.

Supplies needed:
Stamps,ink pads,circle punch,blending tool,bell clips,glue n gloss.

Punch out circles in white card stock n stamps the desired designs.Distress the edges with ink pads.

Apply a thick coating of glue n gloss n allow it to dry for at least 4 hours.

Once it completely dried it becomes totally transparent n the designs will be clear.Fix it to the pin with glue gun.If you don't have stamps are feel lazy to stamp, you can directly punch out pattern papers n apply glue n gloss:).The last 2 pins in the picture is made with pattern papers. In this way you can even customize it for your projects with the same pattern paper:).

Tips:If use use card stock pattern paper you can fix it directly to the pin,if it is paper then mount it on a card stock n fix it to the pin.
Don't ever keep the pins one above the other, keep it fixed to a card stock otherwise it get sticked to each other.I have spoiled few of them like that:((

GETTING CREATIVE WITH PATTERN PAPER SCRAPS.

I bet almost all the crafters are miser when it comes to pattern papers, its same with me.I save even a tiniest paper(i mean it) and if you have some small punches n dies you will never be disappointed for hoarding those scraps. Here is my first tutorial on how to use your scraps in a innovative way.

This is all you need..
  • Pattern paper scraps
  • Distress inks and blending tool
  • Circle dies or punches
  • Card stock for base&
  • Glue

I have used first 2 sizes of spellbinders plain circle dies for this, you can even use some medium size punches if you dont have the dies.

First cut all the papers in 2 to 3 different size.Distress them individually.

Glue all the pieces individually n start sticking one by one over lapping each other.Since it is in circle shape go ousite the card stock in the corners.Stick in the same style for whole of the card stock, remeber the card stock should not be seen any where.

Once you finish it off, allow to dry for some time and trim the excess in the outer edge. You can either stop with this step and use as it is.Or try the next step to give even more finishing.

I have embossed it with distressed stripes embossing folder, this will help you to merge all the papers well and give as finished look as a single paper.

Tips:
  • Use only 2 to 3 size of circles, not more than that.
  • Stick it in a balanced way with alternate light n dark color n sizes.
  • Don't not use a very intricate design embossing folder or a simple one,the former will not allow the pattern paper designs to show off,the later will not be seen at all.Use a medium one.

Visit my BLOG,for the card i made with this:).

ANGLE PUNCHING

Don't you just love when you can use your supplies in different ways?that is the one way you can get more out of your money you put in.I was so excited when i watched a video for this angle punching,i spent a whole evening to get it right.Of course this is quiet difficult n i wasted lots of paper for practice, but its worth giving it a try.Since this needs a video tutorial(in which i am not good)i am linking up the orginal tutorials. There are 3 parts one for each design:
Part 1
Part 2
Part3

Here is my take on it:
